Welcome to summer, where the popsicles melt faster than your patience, and the kids somehow discover every outlet you forgot to babyproof. 🔌👀
While summer break is great for memories and sticky handprints on every surface, it also brings extra electrical risks - especially when the house is buzzing with kids, cousins, and chaos.
Let’s break down what you can do to keep your tiny humans safe around electricity without sounding like a broken record or a walking safety manual.
Kids + Power Tools = An Adrenaline Rush (For You)
Your child just ran into the garage yelling, “I found the thing with the blade that spins!”
🚨 TIME TO TALK GARAGE SAFETY:
Lock up power tools and cords – Just because a drill is unplugged doesn’t mean it's safe. Kids will pretend it’s a lightsaber.
Keep cords off the ground – No one wants to trip over your weed eater during a game of tag.
Teach "Look, Don’t Touch" rules – Or make your own summer song: 🎶 “Don’t touch wires or you’ll get fired... from fun.”
Don’t Plug in the Juice… Literally
It's snack time. One hand has a juice box. The other? Reaching for the phone charger.
This is your sign to talk water + electricity safety:
Drinks stay FAR from electronics
Never touch outlets or switches with wet hands
Bathroom and kitchen outlets should be GFCI-protected (and if they’re not- call us!)
Bonus tip: Let kids decorate outlet covers. If it’s got a dinosaur or glitter on it, they’ll remember not to mess with it.
Indoor Overload: When All the Kids Plug In
Your home is now a gaming tournament HQ. Five consoles, six TVs, a mountain of chargers...
Your circuits are crying.
Avoid extension cord nightmares – Use only one device per outlet (as much as possible).
Unplug what you’re not using – Yes, even that lava lamp from 1997.
Get an electrical check-up – Overloaded circuits can lead to fires. Let Ace Electric give your panel a summer check-in.
Make It a Game: Shock-Free Summer Challenge!
Want your kids to learn safety without tuning you out? Turn it into a game:
"Outlet Patrol" – Who can find the uncovered outlets? (And help you fix them.)
"Guess That Danger" – Is it okay to blow-dry hair in the tub? (Spoiler: No.)
"What Would Ace Do?" – Create scenarios like "The lights are flickering during a storm" and let them choose the right move.
Winner gets popsicles. Loser still gets popsicles, but has to sit through a dad joke from the Ace team.
Let’s Make Summer Safe, Not Shocking
At Ace Electric, we love summer. We love kids. But we really, really love safety. If your panel, outlets, or wiring haven’t been looked at since your kids were in diapers, give us a call.
We’ll help you protect what matters most; with service that’s friendlier than your neighbor with the 12-foot inflatable flamingo.
